Western Monarch Overwintering Sites Database Use Policy
Access to the Xerces Society’s Western Monarch Overwintering Sites (WMOS) database requires users to abide by the organization’s data privacy and use policy. The WMOS database may include sensitive information including personally identifiable information about individuals associated with the overwintering site project and the locations for publicly known monarch overwintering sites as well as privately owned or sensitive sites. In efforts to protect sensitive information and resources, the Xerces Society limits access to the database at its discretion for research, management, planning and other conservation-related purposes. The Xerces Society continually updates the WMOS database as new information becomes available and refinement of existing data occurs. Therefore, information in the database is subject to change. Your approved access to the database allows you to view the most up-to-date version published. Please see the database’s metadata for a comprehensive explanation of the dataset; an overview is available here. Data disclaimer: This database includes community science submissions and records may have not been reviewed by Xerces Society staff. The Xerces Society disclaims all warranties, express or implied, regarding the directory’s accuracy, completeness, legality, reliability, or usefulness. The Xerces Society has not reviewed and is not responsible for any comments regarding the surveys or the sites that volunteers may add to the database. The Xerces Society disclaims any liability for any damages, costs, or losses arising from the use of the data, any information provided or any errors or omissions. These data reflect the contributions of project participants; it is provided for informational purposes only and should not be relied upon as official or legal documents. It is the responsibility of the data user to use the data appropriately and consistently within the limitations of geospatial data in general and these data in particular. These data are not intended to be used for navigation.Data sharing and use requirements
