This training is for volunteers in Northern California (Mendocino, Sonoma, Marin, Contra Costa, Solano, San Francisco, Alameda, San Mateo, Santa Cruz,and Monterey Counties). The refresher training will include the following: -Overview of the count protocol and data collection and submission process (new data collection and submission process this year using the Survey 123 app !!) -Brief history of the count -Overview of the status of the Western Monarch population -Importance of the count with updates on research using Thanksgiving and New Year’s count data -Updates from Regional Coordinators -Question and Answer session Presenters: Stephanie McKnight, Conservation Biologist, The Xerces Society Mia Monroe, Thanksgiving count co-founder and regional coordinator for Mendocino, Sonoma, and Marin Counties Christina Garcia and Susan Ramos, Co-regional coordinators for Alameda county Martha Nitzberg, Regional Coordinator for Santa Cruz County, Natural Bridges State Beach Connie Masotti, Regional Coordinator for Monterey County
