Refresh your community science training prior to the Xerces Society’s annual Western Monarch Count (WMC) with this short refresher webinar and Q&A session. Join Isis Howard and Sara Cuadra-Vargas for a couple new updates related to the program (e.g., 2025 monitoring dates, code of conduct review, app updates, etc.). There will be ample time for Q&A following a few short updates. This is a shortened webinar specifically meant for individuals who are returning WMC participants. A separate virtual training for NEW volunteers is scheduled for Wednesday, September 17th from 5:30 – 6:45 PM PT (see our events page). REMINDER: All participants must be able to survey at least one overwintering site during each of the three WMC monitoring periods: early season, mid season and late season counts (typically ~15+ participation hours including training, transportation to/from sites, field surveys and data processing). More information on volunteer requirements can be found here: https://westernmonarchcount.org/volunteer/This webinar will be recorded and available via WesternMonarchCount.org a few days after the virtual event.
