2024 Mid-Season Count

This is the official survey period for the mid-season Western Monarch Count in fall of 2024. Data collected during the annual WMC survey periods are used in a longitudinal study evaluating the status of the western monarch overwintering population. Conducting surveys within the official count periods and according to protocol are very important! However, please know that your monarch count and habitat surveys for overwintering sites – regardless of survey time or strict protocol adherence – can be submitted to the database anytime and may be referenced for other western monarch conservation efforts.
