The Monterey Herald published an article about the search for monarchs at Pacific Grove Monarch Butterfly Sanctuary. Thanks to Connie Masotti – the Monterey County regional coordinator for the Thanksgiving Count – for her past and ongoing efforts to search for and count monarchs in Monterey County, and for spreading the word about monarchs in this article!
“PACIFIC GROVE — There is a scarcity of brilliant orange wings in Butterfly Town, USA.
The Thanksgiving Western Monarch Count has begun, but at the Pacific Grove Monarch Butterfly Sanctuary, no monarch butterflies have officially been sighted. Although the Thanksgiving count officially started Nov. 14, counters have been looking for the iconic insects at the Sanctuary every week since mid-October.
