Bay Area Western Monarch Count Volunteer Training: Nov. 1 & 6, 2022


When & Where: Evening Zoom training on Tuesday, Nov 1 from 7-8:30pm, followed by an in-person field visit to the San Leandro Marina Golf Course on Sunday, Nov 6, 9-11am.

Description: Help count monarchs in the Bay Area! Become a Community Scientist, trained by monarch experts to count and record observations at one or more overwintering sites in the Bay Area, California, during the monarch overwintering season. This is a two-part training event for the Western Monarch Thanksgiving and New Year’s Counts, hosted by Interpretive Staff & Xerces Society Volunteers. Begin with a virtual training on November 1st, and join other volunteers for an in-person training on November 6th at the San Leandro Marina Golf Course overwintering site! Both part 1 and part 2 of the training are FREE to attend. This is a great training event for folks in Sonoma County, Marin County, San Francisco Bay Area and the East Bay Area.
